Procedures required for parties with Parkinson’s disease to travel abroad by plane.
You use an airline to go abroad for an extended vacation. In some cases, a medical certificate is required for the airline to provide appropriate support for those with disabilities or pre-existing medical conditions.
Here are some examples based on my experience.
Each airline requires a medical certificate on a special form.
“I have Parkinson’s disease.”
After informing the airline of this statement, we received a medical certificate from the airline via the travel agency, which required the signatures of the individual and my doctor on the designated form.

I had wanted to go to Finland, partly because I am a Marimekko fan, but then came the definite diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. The time-lapse was confirmed to work against me, so I applied to the travel agency for a solo trip to Finland.
A few days later, he was told that he would need a medical information form (MEDIF), a form designated by the airline, and that depending on its review, he might not be able to board the plane.
What is the Medical Information Form (MEDIF)?
The cabin of an airplane is an enclosed space with controlled air pressure and air conditioning. For example, passengers who have just undergone surgery, who have difficulty withstanding the pressure difference, or who are suffering from an infectious disease are naturally not allowed to board.
However, the airline will make a decision on whether or not you can board by passing information such as how well you have progressed after surgery or how long it has been since your infectious disease was cured to the airline’s hands.
In addition, if a person needs support to get on and off the plane, the information is even more necessary because the necessary equipment, such as a wheelchair, must be prepared.
Submissions should be sent to the airline as soon as possible.
I have used my own experience as an example, but it is advisable to check the required documents as they vary from airline to airline.
In addition, if you find out that you need a medical information form just before boarding the plane, you may not be able to board the plane if you do not complete the formalities in time.
It is a good idea to prepare carefully in advance.
